🎤IN ELENA’S WORDS...
I wrote this paragraph in my head 1000 times over the course of the year, trying to figure out what I can offer to the Tears and Tulle audience. Yes! That’s how intimidated I am of saying something dumb among all these amazing ladies you see in this movement.
I do not have a million-dollar business, not yet ;) major accomplishments worthy of mentioning, and as of a few months ago, I do not even have a job. My artistic career is nowhere near where I thought it would be by now.
However, I am amazingly talented at faking that I have it all together; when underneath the clothes, there are rivers of sweat.
Criticizing myself till it stops me from doing anything, convincing myself that I am not good enough.
I was tempted to write some half success story of first-generation immigrants trying to make it in New York because exposing my fears and flaws would be too vulnerable.
Until I remembered something I read in one of those self-help books. The only way you can get rid of your fears and what prevents you from growing as a human being is to expose them by bringing light to the darkest corners of your soul.
We are all amazing if we just give ourselves a chance to fail without criticism because, at the end of the day, the biggest failure is not to try at all!
Fluffy clouds of intertwined color danced in the windy streets of Williamsburg, NY that day.
Wrapping me up into a rainbow cocoon, as if nature itself was saying “break fee, dance, have fun!”
It felt silly at first, and then the little voice inside said, “ WHO CARES! just do you!”
